MAP083/MAP086/MAP152/MAP153 – Replacement of VHF radios with 8.33kHz capable radio systems, Fleet standardisation

The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 1079/2012 lays down requirements for voice channel spacing for the Single European Sky and obliges the operator to equip the fleet with a 8.33kHz spacing capable VHF communication radio system (applicable for IFR flights in several European countries). To comply with the above, the modification allows the replacement of outdated Rockwell Collins / KING KTR radio transceivers (2 per aircraft) with Rockwell Collins VHF-422C transceivers. The VHF radio Control Panels are replaced where required and the centre console modified where necessary.

Subsequent projects are issued to standardise various fleets by either replacing the existing VHF radios (and control panels) with VHF-422C or VHF-422D. VHF-422D in addition enables an extended frequency range from 118.000 through 151.975 MHz.

The modification includes (customer documents):

  • Mechanical installation drawings
  • Mechanical manufacturing drawings (for brackets required)
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Engineering orders
  • Instruction for Continued Airworthiness
  • Flight Manual Supplement
