MAP079 – HR Smith ADELT CPI Installation

To facilitate the installation and decrease the weight impact, the existing and no longer required Artex fixed automatic ELT is removed prior to installation of the HR Smith CPI (removal covered within the modification).

The modification covers the complete installation of a 503-16 HR Smith Automatic Deployable Emergency Locator Transmitter (ADELT) + Crash Position Indicator (CPI) to address a requirement for a CPI and ELT for offshore operations. The system is composed of seven main sub-assemblies. Each LRU is mounted on a suitable location ensuring access where required and taking into account the established practices of the TC holder, all relevant Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives and the Equipment Manufacturer’s recommendations.

The modification includes (customer documents):

  • Mechanical manufacturing drawings (for brackets required)

  • Engineering orders
  • Instruction for Continued Airworthiness
  • Flight Manual Supplements

MAP 21 achieved an EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval in 2007, EASA.21J.326, which enables us to approve modifications to the aviation industry as a delegated EASA authority.
